Paleco Sends 12 Strong Linemen to Masbate to Aid in Typhoon Opong Recovery

The Palawan Electric Cooperative (Paleco) has deployed 12 of its linemen to Masbate Island to help restore electricity and rebuild power lines devastated by the onslaught of typhoon Opong.

The deployment is part of the nationwide mutual assistance program or Task Force Kapatid among electric cooperatives where the spirit of bayanihan continues to shine through in times of crisis. According to Engr. Rez L. Contrivida, PALECO General Manager, “Electric cooperatives are not just about bringing light to our communities; we also look after each other. Today, it is our brothers and sisters in Masbate who need help, and we are honored to extend our strength and support.” He also emphasized that while calamities may cause destruction, they also bring out the cooperative spirit of solidarity. “It is always a privilege to be in the position to extend help. This is how cooperatives thrive; standing side by side in the face of adversity.”

The 12 linemen, equipped with the necessary tools and skills, will work hand in hand with Masbate Electric Cooperative (Maselco) to expedite power restoration. Regaining access to electricity of affected communities is a vital step towards their recovery.

In recognition of the sacrifices that come with this mission of service, Paleco also expressed gratitude to the families of the deployed linemen for their understanding and support.

Through unity and cooperation, the electric cooperatives reaffirm their commitment not only to power homes but also to power hope especially in times of great need.
