PALECO IN ACTION
Armed with its mandate to energize the entire franchise area, the Palawan Electric Cooperative (PALECO) conducted symbolic switch-on ceremonies for newly energized sitios under the Sitio Electrification Program (SEP). The ceremonies were held on September 30 at the Batang-Batang Beach Elementary School for Sitio Batang-Batang Shore, Brgy. Batang-Batang, Narra and at the Barangay Covered Court for Sitio Tugbuan 1, Brgy. Malinao, Narra. Another ceremony was held on October 1 at the Barangay Covered Court of Brgy. Punang, Sofronio Española, for Sitios Bagong Silang and Biagsukan.
The events were attended by residents of the respective barangays, their local officials—Hon. Benjamin B. Gapuz of Brgy. Batang-Batang, Hon. Armand H. Pamoso of Brgy. Malinao, and Hon. Delfin R. Endrecoso of Brgy. Punang—as well as the mayors of both municipalities: Hon. Gerandy B. Danao of Narra, and Hon. Abner Rafael N. Tesorio, represented by Mr. Ivys Joel P. Nuñala, of Sofronio Española.
The switch-on ceremony marks the culmination of the Sitio Electrification Program (SEP) jointly implemented by PALECO and the National Electrification Administration (NEA). The program covers not only the expansion of distribution lines but also includes the provision and installation of house wiring materials for selected beneficiaries in each sitio.
For this batch of SEP projects, which was awarded in 2022, a total of 19 sitios were included. As of this writing, 14 sitios have already been energized, while the remaining five (5) are scheduled for energization before the end of October.
