The management and staff of the Palawan Electric Cooperative (PALECO) warmly welcomed the arrival of the National Electrification Administration (NEA) Administrator, Hon. Antonio Mariano C. Almeda, today, January 26.
Joining Administrator Almeda were NEA Technical Consultant Prof. Rowaldo del Mundo, PALECO Project Supervisor Atty. Ivan Darwin G. Zamora, along with members of the Interim Board of Directors: Chairperson Atty. Fe Marie D. Tagle, Vice Chairperson Engr. Jerry D. Morastil, and members Engr. Getullo Z. Crudua, Mr. Virgilio C. Fortich, Jr., and Engr. Emmanuel B. Galarse.
Representatives from the Maharlika Investment Corporation, as well as NEA staff, were also part of today’s visit.
Topics discussed included PALECO’s recent milestones, the participation of the Maharlika Investment Corporation in advancing the power utility, and the evaluation of possible beneficiaries of the government-funded school electrification program in geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas.
Administrator Almeda congratulated the management and staff of PALECO for their accomplishments and improvements. PALECO has progressed from a Yellow Electric Cooperative—able to comply with four to six performance standards and parameters—to a Green Electric Cooperative, having met all seven performance standards and parameters. Green is the highest classification of electric cooperatives in accordance with NEA Memorandum No. 2024-21.
